The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level educational board in India for public and private schools which is directly controlled and managed by the Indian Government. CBSE conducts board nationwide examinations for class 10th and class 12th on yearly basis. Class 10th examination is termed as AISSE and Class 12th examination is known as AISSCE. English and Hindi are considered as CBSE boards’ official languages. There are many public and private schools affiliated with CBSE board hence only students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools can take up AISSE and AISSCE board examinations .
As per the new exam policy, the entire academic year is divided into two terms and the board administers term 1 and term 2 examinations at the end of each term respectively. Both the terms will be based on the 50% CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 portions. According to the revised pattern students will be evaluated throughout the year regardless of term 1 and term. The Internal Assessment for Class 10 and Class 12 will cover marks for Unit tests, other activities, Projects and practical exams.
Number of subjects for Class 10 are as follows:
- Language 1
- Language 2
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Additional Subject
CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern
? In Term 1 and Term 2, total marks for each subject is 100 marks.
? The exam duration will be 1and half hours (90 minutes).
? Board examination will be conducted for 80 marks (40 marks in each term for all subjects) and 33% of 80 marks is considered as passing mark.
? Internal Assessment is for 20 marks (10 marks in each term for all subjects) 33% of 20 marks is considered as passing mark. Internal Assessment is divided into 4 parts:
- Periodic test- 3 periodic tests will be conducted and an average of 2 tests will be considered for final which carries 5 marks out of 20 marks.
- Multiple Assessment- This includes oral tests, maps, graphics, activities, assignments and group or individual assessments.
- Notebook Submission -This includes the work done by the student along with their efforts, progress, growth, achievements of the student and carries 5 marks out of 20 marks.
- Subject Enrichment Activities- In case of language subjects speaking and listening skills will be taken into account. In Maths and Science practical and lab work will be considered and map pointing and project works for Social Studies. This carries 5 marks out of 20 marks.
? CBSE Board follows a 9-point grading system (both grade and marks will be awarded for each subject).

CBSE Class 12 plays a vital role in a student’s career. Senior Secondary Board examination is easy to clear with proper preparation and Class 11th and Class 12th portions are the base for many competitive entrance exams.
In class 12 there are different subjects under academic elective (Group-A) such as Accountancy, Maths, Business Studies, Economies, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Information Practices, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Biotechnology, Fine arts, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Geography. Practical exams will be held for these.
Languages( Group-L) subjects are Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Bhutia, Bodo, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, English Core, English Elective, Japanese, Kannada, Kashmiri, Lepcha, Limboo, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Punjabi, Russian, Nepali, Odia, Persian, Sanskrit Core, Sanskrit Elective, Sindhi, Spanish, Tamil,Tangkhul, Telugu Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Telangana, Tibetan, Urdu Core, Urdu Elective.
CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern
? In Term 1 and Term 2, total marks for each subject is 100 marks.
? There would be a total of 50 questions. As per new exam pattern, 2 hours of time will be given in case of descriptive examination. But if the condition is not feasible for a normal exam, objective type (mcq) exam will be conducted with a duration of 90 minutes.
? Question paper will be available in both English and Hindi whereas regional language is an optional language paper which is not a common medium of examination.
? MCQ questions will carry one mark each and there will not be any negative marking for any subjects in term 2 examination.
? Internal Assessment is for 20 marks and it is divided into 4 parts
